The trend toward ever-expanding utilization of information technology — widely expected to be the key to the next wave of innovation — spans the business world. The increasing popularity of the term “healthtech” demonstrates that the medical/healthcare industry is no exception. While some say that Japan lags behind other developed nations in this area, it has established the foundation and framework for a new healthtech initiative with the Next Generation Medical Infrastructure Act, which came into effect last May.

Further legal developments are expected, but the utilization of healthtech also requires that thorny personal information protection and cyber security issues be addressed. As such, it is advisable for companies to evaluate the relevant risks and develop appropriate strategies to mitigate potential data breaches before adopting healthtech.

Come and meet our experts on 19 March 2019 to find out more about the use of data in the medical/healthcare industry and related risks and challenges.

We will be inviting healthtech experts from Japan and overseas to discuss various topics related to data use in the medical/healthcare industry — from the strategic use of data and case studies to regulatory challenges, recent regulatory trends and other trends — as well as risks and issues.
